Dean of the Conservatory

CLEVELAND INSTITUTE OF MUSIC-Dean of the Conservatory. The Cleveland Institute of Music, an independent, privately supported, not-for-profit conservatory, invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean. The Dean serves the institute by providing administrative leadership, guidance, and support to students, faculty and staff in all aspects of CIM's collegiate-level programs. Reporting to the Vice President, the Dean collaborates with department heads in the administration of all academic programs. Cleveland Institute of Music seeks a Dean who has a minimum of a master's degree, 5+ years of experience in music teaching and administration, and a passion for excellence. Full-Time Faculty: Voice

The Cleveland Institute of Music, a private, independent conservatory, announces a full-time faculty position in voice (tenor, baritone, or bass-baritone), beginning Fall 2009.

Responsibilities include studio teaching of degree and diploma students at the undergraduate and graduate level, possible teaching of related courses, and performing departmental functions such as student recruiting and attending auditions.

Applicants should have a DMA or MM and significant performing experience. A proven record of successful teaching at the college level is required. CIM does not employ a traditional rank and tenure system. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Part-Time Faculty: English as a Second Language (ESL)

The Cleveland Institute of Music announces a part-time position, beginning Fall 2009, in the teaching of English as a second language. An introduction to the school, faculty, and programs can be found at www.cim.edu.

Responsibilities include designing and teaching a class for graduate students in the Conservatory seeking to acquire English proficiency necessary for pursuing a degree program and supervising Conservatory-student tutors assigned to provide additional instructional support. Applicants should have experience teaching English as a second language, particularly to students from Asian and/or Eastern European countries, and a knowledge of music.

Full-Time Faculty: Eurhythmics

The Cleveland Institute of Music, a private, independent conservatory, announces a full-time faculty position in eurhythmics, beginning fall 2009. An introduction to the school, faculty, and programs can be found at www.cim.edu.

Responsibilities include teaching eurhythmics courses for Conservatory students in their first and second years and teaching advanced elective classes to upper-level students. Some teaching of classes for young children and/or in pedagogy may be anticipated.

Applicants must have a Master of Music degree and a proven record of successful experience at the college level. A Dalcroze license is preferred. CIM does not employ a traditional rank and tenure system. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
